Yesterday was Fat Tuesday, the high point of Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Traditionally, King Cake is baked – a yeasted sweet bread with a cinnamon, sugar and butter filling and decorated with brightly coloured sugars.

Now we’ve finished the pancakes in the UK for Shrove Tuesday, why not try making King Cake? Here is a traditional recipe, a gluten free recipe and 2 vegan recipes.

    • I’d highly recommend you read the two blogs I linked to – Fat Free Vegan and Cake Maker to the Stars. They both have really tasty food that usually use non specialist ingredients. I believe that Cake Maker to the Stars is now also a gluten free and vegan blog. Fat Free Vegan usually isn’t gluten free but always is very tasty 🙂
